ETI Visit

As you will know we had a visit from the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) during this last week. Originally this ‘Full Primary Inspection’ was due to be held over four days involving six Inspectors. However, owing to on-going Industrial Action short of strike by the main Teaching Unions, the visit was shortened to two days with three Inspectors in attendance. Consequently, the Inspectors were only able to report on ‘Key Findings’ and no evaluative statements were given regarding Outcomes for Learners, Quality of Provision, Leadership and Management.

It should be noted that the Union action is Province-wide and many schools are affected in some way or another. This being the case, ETI has established ‘stock terminology’ for use in their Inspection Reports covering ‘Partial Inspections’. Whilst the Inspection team was unable to give overall outcomes, the school will have a visit in the future simply as part of normal inspection activity.

A Report of the ETI visit to our school will be forthcoming early in the new year and this will be placed online for your perusal we will inform you when this is uploaded. In the meantime we would like to thank the Inspectors for carrying out their duties in a caring and professional manner. It was very pleasing to note that during the Oral Feedback, the Inspectors thanked the staff for their co-operation, expressed their enjoyment of being in our school and spoke very highly of meeting and talking with our pupils.

On behalf of the Governors I would like to extend thanks to the staff and pupils for making the Inspectors feel so welcome. Thank you also to those pupils, staff and parents who completed their online questionnaire; it was vey much appreciated.
